<sp1> I think first there're many tall there're many tall beautiful [Pl-r] buildings established in my hometown. And I think it shows that mm economic [S2] reform has effective is very effective in my hometown. Mmsecond, I think the traffic the traffic system [Pe-r] is very smooth now, not as ten years ago [Po-r] is very always [Py-r] happened the traffic jam always happened in my home town. Now it isn't. Mmmm the third, I think there're many many shops many shops in in my hometown now, and many mmvery very good comedies. </sp1>
<interlocutor> OK? All right. OK. Mm ***? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Yes? </sp2>
<interlocutor> Mm will you mm will you tell us will the increasing number of private cars cause any problems in big cities? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Yes, of course. I think, first of all, the main problem caused by the increasing of the car numbers is traffic jam, because I'm living in a big city, Tianjin. Sometimes the traffic jam is really serious [M2s] during the leap time. And secondly, I think pollution is really a big problem. Mm the condition of our air is mm is always polluted by the gas mm emitted by the cars. So I think this is mm these are the two main problem caused by the mm increasing of the car number. </sp2>
<interlocutor> All right? Mm ***? Right? OK. What in your opinion is the biggest change that has taken place in China today? </interlocutor>
<sp3> I think fir mm the first is increasing of the economy [S3]. Andand and today, with the deve-development of computer, now everyone everyone has known [Wo-au] the computer. And and the student mm in our school, we can we now now we can go tommsorry. </sp3>
<interlocutor> OK? So, now let's move on to something more specific. The topic for our discussion mm this afternoon is changes in people's life. Each of you will be given a picture, showing one aspect on the changes that have taken place in people's life in China since early 1980s. I'd like you to describe your picture first, and then talk about the changes. You'll have one minute to prepare, and each of you will have one and a half minute to give your presentation. Don't worry if I interrupt you when time is up. OK? So now here are the pictures. </interlocutor>
<sp1> Thank you. </sp1>
<sp2> Thank you. </sp2>
<interlocutor> All right? Time is over. </interlocutor>
<spall> Yeah. OK. </spall>
<sp1> As can we see from the pictures, mm there are two pictures in this paper. The first one is shown the activities in early 9 in early 1980s. Andmmsome people [P2e-r] maybe the neighbors around their family, and come to co come the hou come in in the house. Just look at the very just look at the very small and mm the black and white TV [Wv-vei] sections. Andin the [We-i] shops, there are very few [Pw-r] kinds of commodities [S1][M2o][Mt][M2i] in the shelf and the very few come customers very few customers. And people if wan people want to see films watch films, theyjust sit just sit only in the air. And but mm we mm but in comparison, in the late 90s, the people's [Pl-r] activities are very colorful. And the family can see can can watch programmes from the big and colorful TV section. And they also can can go [Po-r] out for such thing in their usu leisure time. </sp1>
<interlocutor> All right. Can you start now, ***? </interlocutor>
<sp2> OK. As we can see in this picture, that show that shows the accommodations chan-changes from early 80s to late 90s. Mm as we can see, mm first picture, mm the building is very mm the building is in poor condition, and the kitchen it is very crowded. And mm the focus is leaking, and and in the bedroom is also very crowded, and is not really gild for the people to live to live in. And on the second picture we can see, mm today in late 90s, mm the building are taller and roads are wider, and the bedroom and kitchen condition mm improve improve a lot. In the bedroom there are a lot there are more appliance in it, so mm it's very comfortable and very nice. And in the kitchen there are also more appliance for a housework to work in it. So I think the changes in people's life mm is really mm big chan big changes, and now people can live a better life in 1990s. So I'm very proud of these changes, and it's really convenient. </sp2>
<interlocutor> All right. Your opinion, please? </interlocutor>
<sp3> OK. My picture are is the trans-transportations in our in big cities. And in early early 18s early 80s in the street, a bus [Wu-a] is crowded, as you can see, and I many people many people are are crowded in the bus [Wu-a]. And in the street, many people many people by bicycle [Ml] are are crowded and many people are crossing the street. And in late late 90s in the street, there is no bicycle and the bu the double-bus [Wu-a] is very very quick and and I think mm this is the changes in transportation in our country. And from this, I we can see the the all changes in our country. And thank you. </sp3>
<interlocutor> All right. Now you all have some idea of the changes that have taken place in people's life in China since 1980. OK. What change has had the greatest influence on people's life? Please discuss it. During the discussion, you may argue with each other or ask each other questions to clarify your point. You will be you will have about four and a half minutes for the discussion. Your performance will be judged according to your contribution to the discussion. Now, you begin. </interlocutor>
<sp2> Mm well, as far as I'm concerned, I think the the greate the greatest change in our mm in people's life is that there are more shopping centers and supermarkets mm today than than that in early 80s, because mm people more and more people they earn mm they earn more and more money, so mm they need more places to spend their money. And the shopping center and the supermarket give them a good place to spend their money. And I think it's very convenient for people. </sp2>
<sp1> I agree with you. Yeah. I think I think the the greatest influence in mm the people's in people's life is that, with development of the economy and with development of it, I think people with more money they can do much things after work, for example, do some shopping, go [Po-r] out for sightseeing. What more is </sp2>
<interrupted>
<sp3> But how do you think the development of the computer and so on? </sp3>
</interrupted>
<sp2> Computer? </sp2>
<sp3> Yes? </sp3>
<sp2> Yes. Computer is developed more and more, mm we can always go online and explore in the internet and it's very convenient for us to sending e-mail and to correspond with our friends and to knew the latest news of the society. </sp2>
<interlocutor> All right. Miss ***, your answer? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Mm I think the most changes in our country in past 10 years is the is computers and and traffic. And I I think in in 80, as you see here, in early 80s, there are much bicycles [Wi-ae] and and buses [Wu-a]. And now, now in streets, the traffic is much is much better. Mm I think this is the best changes in our country. </sp3>
<sp2> Yes, of course. I think the improvement of the traffic is the base is the base of the improvement in economy [P1o-r], so I think it's very influential. </sp2>
<sp1> But I think the development of the traffic also produce many problems. For example [Pl-r], in the [We-e] environments, many rubbish, so [Po-r] I think now we also [Po-r] can mm realize the importance of the [We-i] protection of the environments. </sp1>
<sp2> Yeah. It's the high time for government takes measures to solve the problem. </sp2>
<interrupted>
<sp3> But it is only in city in big cities. And in village, if there is no no no road [Wr-ri], there is no way to ah get rich for vi for villagers. </sp3>
</interrupted>
<sp1> But some local governments not realize the importance of the [We-i] protection of the environment so they set the factories which can produce much the pollutions in the villages [We-e]. </sp1>
<interlocutor> So, that's the end of the discussion. And now, I'd like to ask each of you one last question on the topic, changes of people's life. All right, see one, now there are more and more fast food restaurants. What do you think of the fast food? </interlocutor>
<sp1> Mm fast food [Po-r], I think, it is first is very conv-convenient for the people [Pl-r]. Because [Pu-r] mm with the develop of the society, there is a quick time [Wi-ae] of the life, so people [Pl-r] have not much time during the day to enjoy the life just for work [Wo-oo] and to make money. So, the fast food is very convenient. But second, I think it also produce some pro-problems, for example, they not very good for the health of the people [Pl-r]. So [Po-r] I think people [Pl-r] may rea mm maybe may maybe aware of this this problem. </sp1>
<interlocutor> All right. See two, mm what kind of house does your family have? </interlocutor>
<sp2> A flat. </sp2>
<interlocutor> How many rooms? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Mm now we we are going to move in a bigger room that contains three bedrooms and two and one living room and a kitchen. </sp2>
<interlocutor> OK. How does your family have it? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Mm we we now we are living in a smallerer flat that contains a a bedroom one bed two bedrooms and a kitchen. So, my my family mm we are very happy to mm to look forward to moving into the new fla the new flat, because the accommodation conditions will improve a lot. So we, each of us can mm can get a a a bedroom for ourselves. There're it's really nice. </sp2>
<interlocutor> All right. See three. Do you think it's a good idea to replace low buildings with tall buildings? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Mm I think it very it very good. Mm because now with the with the increasing of our of the of the population in our country, more and more mm people need to live in somewhere, and mm the low building cann't mm and if you if you have more have more high building, and more people can live in it. Thank you. </sp3>
<interlocutor> That's all? OK. So that's the end of the test. Thank you. </interlocutor>
<spall> Thank you, teacher. </spall>
