<interlocutor> Erm so, now would you please just briefly introduce yourselves to each other? And remember, you should not mention the name of your universities. Ok, you have </interlocutor>
<sp1> Ok I I feel honored to take the CET and should begin mm by introducing myself. I I'm a senior student major in farm civil? engineering. And [Pd-e] and be influenced by my family [Wa-a:] I love music very much, mm and I have faith in a saying a man without an aim is a sailor without compass [Pp-ru]. That is it. Thank you. </sp1>
<Interlocutor> And you? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Mm nice to meet to you again, and er today I'm glad to take the spoken English test. I think it is an opportunity to express myself, mm so I hope we can cooperate well this time. Thank you. </sp2>
<Interlocutor> What about you? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Mm I'm also a senior. And I I'm majoring in mm computer science. Then in these themes that I choose the communication as my specialized courses course. That's all. </sp3>
<sp4> Now, well, nice to meet you too. It's my pleasure to be here. My major is accounting admini administration administration. And my hometown is Anji, you know Anji is the bamboo's [S1] hometown. </sp4>
<Interlocutor> Yeah. </interlocutor>
<sp4> Mm welcome you to to visit our hometown, I it's my my pleasure, thank you. </sp4>
<interlocutor> OK. So now that we know each other, that we can do some group work, ok? First of all, I'd like you to ask I'd like to ask each of you to say something about campus life. Erm so, ***, erm how do you like campus life? How do you like campus life? </interlocutor>
<sp1> When I when I went into the campus, mm I feel the campus [Ms] is not is not as excellent [W1e-i] [W2e-ai] [S2] as I have had imagine. So after three years studying I I I just gradually be addressed to the cam campus life and I think mm it's very mm competitive [W1e-ai] it's very wonderful con con co colorful [P1o-n][Ml][M2o] and [Pd-er] and [Pd-er] mm and [Pd-er] mem memorize remember me mm many things it is very memorable things. Mm so I I think mm it it it's a tre treasure [Pa-l][Ws-sh] it is a treasure [Ws-sh] time in in our in our lives and [Pd-er] mm </sp1>
<interlocutor> Erm erm so ***, mm can you say something about living conditions on campus? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Living conditions? Erm well, when I first come to the college I'm very happy because all is new to me. Erm I think the life style in is quite different from the style of my hometown. And I can mm live together with my roommates but when I first come to the college I think the living condition is not quite good I er just like I have imagined, mm because mm the room is too small and some sometimes it is difficult to sort everything hm tidy and neat [Pt-i]. So mm but now the condition have different because I move to the apartment and mm there I live together with three hm three other erm girls and we have each erm each of us have computer board and a cupboard [Wo-o] to play some er to put together some er books and mm mm and I have erm we we have access to the internet and through telephone, so I think the living condition is mm get better now. </sp2>
<interlocutor> Ok, so ***, do you find life on campus convenient? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Mm andI I beg your pardon? </sp3>
<interlocutor> I mean er what about campus life? Do you find life in campus convenient? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Mm I don't think so. </sp3>
<interlocutor> why? Can you give your reasons? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Because I because mm I think [Pk-er] mm in campus [Wa-o] mm in college [Wl-r] we we can't [Pt-er] mm connect each other mm and the teacher mm only only mm taught us what the mm what on books and leave mm leave immediately after class. And [Pd-er] and mm classmates also mm don't mm also we can't see them er all the time. Mm we the only com communication is the roommates, and now mm I lived in Hangzhou and my home is near to mm my college [Wl-r]. So I often stayed home. So mm I don't think [Wth-s] the college [Wl-r] I I don't think [Wth-s] the college [Wl-r] life is mm comfort comfortable. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Yeah, ok, and ***, erm I have a question for you. What do you think is most attractive aspect of campus life? </interlocutor>
<sp4> Attractive? </sp4>
<interlocutor> What do you think the most attractive part of campus life? </interlocutor>
<sp4> I think it is study. </sp4>
<interlocutor> Erm hm can you explain? </interlocutor>
<sp4> Maybe I think it is study. But as personally I I play play computer games mm on night at tonight hm yesterday night I can play with some friends mm my roommates wi mm with a game, the name is cam mm empires [M2e] mm the empires [M2e]. Mm we we we we always be group to the to the computer lab to make friends with all the world, mm such as Ko Korean American, and we we can fight on the net. Er I think it is very fun and very exciting, mm also we can mm we can talk to them to learn something from them. Maybe their their their might their main idea is different to from from us; I I I think we also can can talk talk to each other and also can be friends. Er other problem like study studying studying I also can't give it up because it it's my major in the college. </sp4>
<interlocutor> Ok thank you. Erm now let's move on to something more specific, ok? The topic for our discussion today is hobbies. Each of you will be given a picture showing two different hobbies. I'd like you to describe the hobbies briefly. And then compare them. So describe the hobbies briefly and then compare them. You have one minute to prepare, and each of you will have one and a half minute to give your presentation. Don't worry if I interrupt you when time is up. So now, please look at the pictures and prepare one minute. </interlocutor>
<interlocutor> Now, erm, time is up. And er let's start from ***, er so would you please begin, and the rest of you, er would you put aside your picture and listen to what *** *** will have to say? </interlocutor>
<sp1> Mm it is a hobby thing: mm a student sit in in sofa and [Pd-er] and [Pd-er] read [Pd-er] read [Pd-er] a boo read [Pd-er] a book. We can s we can we can find mm he is attracted by the book, mm and and we can we can find we can find the smile on face shows me that mm his hobby is reading reading for pleasure [Ws-sh][Ps-u]. Another [Wt-su] thing is is mm a girl an and [Pd-er] a boy are playing are playing tennis [We-ae]. Mm mm this two different hobb [Po-r] this two different hobbies [Po-r] mm this two this two different hobbies [Po-r] hobbies [Po-r] mm are sorry, this two different hobbies [Po-r] mm in which reading for pleasure [Ws-sh][Ps-u] is my mm is my is one of my my hobby. Mm in on campus life mm reading mm reading take up most of my time and [Pd-er] and often read read may mm and and I and I rea often read read books mm for pleasure [Ws-sh][Ps-u] and </sp1>
<interlocutor> Ok, I'm afraid that's about the time you have, so *** it is your turn. </interlocutor>
<sp2> Mm these two pictures give us a general idea of hobbies. The first is about stamp-collecting, and the o the other is about surfing the internet. Mm er I think the former is quite traditional and the latter is much more than erm mm as we all know hobbies can relax oneself, just like er er sta stamp-collecting. Mm there is a course of collects er collecting some stamps one can mm learn many. Hm for example the pictures on the stamps represent many kinds of things just like er flowers, erm landscapes, and etc. Erm about surfing the Internet, maybe it is mm much particular it is sorry it is much popular with young people. Mm we can get useful information to help mm both as the study and work, and our maybe some other works we like to do mm erm I think mm besides study our Chi mm our university student should er cultivate some kinds of hobbies. Er erm except from collect mm collects mm stamp and surfing the internet s er things such as playing mm footballs, er just like sports can erm do mm do us good mm both for psychology health and physiological health. </sp2>
<interlocutor> Thank you, now, ***. </interlocutor>
<sp3> Mm in my picture the two hobbies are listening to the music and go going on a tour [Wo-oi]. In picture one [Wn-ng] mm a pretty girl sit mm i in in sofa and enjoy herself. She is listening music. I think [Wth-s][Pk-er] mm the pop music is most [Pt-er] popular in our [Wr-a:] university student. Almost every student have [Wa-ei] have [Wa-ei] a walkman mm or CD. And the and listening to music [Pc-er] I think is the most is the easiest way to re relax yourself after study Another hobby is going on a tour [Wo-oi] A a boy mm is a boy is walking mm is climbing a hill I think [Wth-s] it is I think [Wth-s] it is a it is Huangshan mm because I see the pine and the strangers and sunshine sunrise [Wi-i]. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Ok, now. Erm ***, it is your turn. </interlocutor>
<sp4> Oh yeah, er in my pictures this two hobbies the first is playing chess and the second is swimming. Playing chess I I think is very very interesting. I I always with my roommates to play play erm play chess together and Erm this this hobby is indoors indoors indoors one and swimming is out outdoors one. And indoors one can erm mm playing chess can increase [W1e-u] my my my my my mind it is my and swimming can increase my my body. Mm as mm compare compare the two hobbies I like swimming because i it can can swim at the rivers, or pools, or sea My dream is my dream is to swim at the sea. It is my big dream but unfortunately I have I couldn't make it it's it's very mm I think one day I can do it. </sp4>
<interlocutor> Yeah, right. Erm, so now, you all have some idea of what of various kinds of hobbies, right? I'd like you to discuss this topic further and tell us whether college students should be encouraged to have a hobby. Ok. During this discussion, you may argue with each other and ask each other questions to clarify your point. You have about six minutes for the whole discussion. And your performance will be judged according to your contribution to the discussion. Now, erm we want to take order so any one of you who feel like starting the conversation can initiate the discussion well, it is ready. Start to make you points. </interlocutor>
<sp4> Mm let let let me first. ***, nice to meet you; mm er can I ask what what what's your favorite hobby? </sp4>
<sp3> My favorite hobby mm in my spare time I I put a lot of mm spare time on computer, I like it's </sp3>
<sp2> I think there are many reasons that mm college students should be encouraged to mm develop their own hobbies, for mm besides study I think [Wth-s] one con mm concentrate all the concentration to study mm one can mm learn much through the hobbies. Just like I er I have said er stamp-collecting and surfing the internet help both of us to er get some traditional knowledge and the most modern information to help us study. Er t er take surfing the Internet for an example, many people just er go online to chat with each other, not to get some useful information. I think it is not er a good hobby. Mm maybe someone has different idea erm let them go on. Mm mm other hobbies such as erm do exercise [M2e] and er le reading and listen to some music also help us to relax ourselves er in spare time and to help maybe help mm help us to communicate with each other. Erm for example, if we share a common hobby with our friend we may be mm much closer to him mn than to than to others. What is your opinion? </sp2>
<sp1> I think in in our spare time we should do more exercises [S2][W1e-i][Px-ai][Wi-i]. Mm as for me mm I I'm preparing [Ma] for the the national entrance examination [Pt-u] so have haven't time to to take to take some games ex exercises [S2][W1e-i][Wi-i] and you can see I feel ?????. So mm as for me mm playing [Wl-r] football [Wt-e] is what taking on; mm you know football [Wt-l][Pt-er] football [Wt-l][Pt-er] game is a collective game and [Pd-er] and you must [Pt-er] mm cooperate with others [Wt-su] and [Pd-er] and [Pd-er] mmand and and and can it it benefit you mm not only physical health and [Pd-er] and but also mm but also your your team team work skills and [Pd-er] and [Pd-er] how to mm help others how to how to contribute our collective. Mm I I I'm a spikier mm in in team in football [Wt-l][Pt-er] match, so it is a very competitive [Mt][M1i] role, mm </sp1>
<sp2> In my opinion hobbies can be er interpret as interests to some extent. If we have some interests in something er I mean if we like to do something we always try our best to do it that maybe lead to a success, I think. </sp2>
<sp3> I think [Pk-er] mm everyone [Wn-ng] should have hobbies but they also mm but they also should know mm mm should have some self-limi limitation. If he mm mm listen listen musical mm in class it was affect his study and and my some of my classmates they mm they they enjoy the pz game very much. They play [Wl-r] it all day and all night. So so I think [Wth-s] don't limi er haven't limi limit the hobbies shou mm if there was a effect our life and our study. </sp3>
<sp2> Hobbies should be er cultivated and also need encouraging but I think mm student must take their study for the first work. </sp2>
<sp4> Erm to me I like I like the sport basketball very much and doing you know NBA in America is very popular to our y young people and I also I always look look the games on TV. Like er three three years ago Gordon Michael Gordon is down the world is down the games. We I like I like him very much. Mm watching watching her playing ba basketball is just is very thoughtful. And and today he he did not play in his game but al but he is the boss of the Qi nage jiao Qi in Chinese Qicai mn. I I think I very er looking forward to looking forward forward to see her see him back on a on our eye. </sp4>
<interlocutor> Erm ok, maybe if anyone would like to add you don't mm I want to find your sentence. </interlocutor>
<sp1> I I approve [Wv-f] of num No.3 student's opinion very much. Mm mm you know hobby we we can some hobby can can be addictive mm such as surfing the internet [S3]. Mm i it has been piloted [Wi-o] that mm many students mm s sink mm have sinked the themselves in internet [S3] all day and night, and without and with without [P2t-er] even without sleeping and [Pd-er] and have ?? have ? Like beginners [Wn-d] I think mm we must [Pt-er] mm be careful [Mu] for our be careful [Mu] for our hobby hobbies, could not try go to extremes. </sp1>
<interlocutor> Ok, I see your point, thank you. Erm so that'll be the end of the discussion. And now I'd like to ask just one last question on the topic of hobbies to each of you. Erm let's make a little change we will start from ***, ok? Erm, what is the most popular hobby of your classmates? </interlocutor>
<sp4> My classmate? </sp4>
<interlocutor> Yes. </interlocutor>
<sp4> My classmates' hobby is mm just like I am, playing basketball. Er we in in in in sa in Saturday we will [Wi-ei] to play a game play basketball on our our college. We divided mm in my classmates there eight eight men the game we divided two groups to play play basketball together and we will also er invite a another one to join us because one of our classmates will go home or to go shopping. We will find another one to join us like playing mm playing basketball. I think it is very fun. I can increase [W1e-u] increase [W1e-u] our friendship and increase [W1e-u] my and enclose us together be our favorite favorite together. </sp4>
<interlocutor> Thank you yeah erm now, ***, erm do you think having a hobby will affect your studies? </interlocutor>
<sp3> I think [Wt-s][Pk-er] mm have a hobby maybe effect someone's study. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Er can you give your reasons? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Because [Ws-s] I see many of my classmates are are mm enjoy the mm enjoy their hobby like [Pk-er] computer and football. They mm they mm they if there there is a match mm they will mm go to watch it mm mm will go to it even mm even even he had classes that time. But I think [Wth-s][Pk-er] to me mm I can control myself well, so I I listen music and play [Pl-r] pz game only in my spare time. So mm my hobbies don't effect my study. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Ok, erm now ***, erm some students you know spent a lot time surfing the net, do you think it is a problem? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Mm of course especially do mm among the college students mm just mm like we have discussed mm some students spend day and night to go online to chat to play internet games. I think it is a big problem because er as we students are concerned study is our first er task. Erm the both the country and our family support us to further my further our studies in college erm we shouldn't do something that mm is not useful. Mm maybe this problem is erm need some mm consideration both from the mm mm the students themselves and both and from the school. Maybe school can take some manners mm take some manners to control this phenomenon. </sp2>
<interlocutor> ok, so finally er ***, you know some people spent a lot of money on hobbies. Do you think it is worthwhile? </interlocutor>
<sp1> I think mm it was decide only attitude mm attitude to the hobbies. And [Pd-er] and [Pd-er] some hobbies are mm are deserve and some not. Mm for example mm if we an for example mm if we learning computer computer software [Wa-ai][Pa-i] and [Pd-er] and maybe we mm cost us a lot of money. And [Pd-er] and I and I think mm it maybe develop us upgrade u mm it can it can mm upgru upgru upgrade us. So so it is it's deserve, but s for some other other hobbies such as mm such as mm reading mm reading solemn [Pm-n] solemn [Pm-n] novels or mm or some other bad habits such as mm smoking I think it is very it is very dangerous [Ms] for us. Mm so mm I think we should mm we should [Pd-er] we should [Pd-er] mm s set mm set limit mm set limit set money spent we we spent limit on on the on the ba- ba- bad bad hobbies and [Pd-er] and should and [Pd-er] should pay pay the money mm on on the hobbies are benefit us. So that's it. </sp1>
<interlocutor> Ok, thank you. Erm and that's the end of the test. Finally thanks again everybody. </interlocutor>
<spall> Thank you. </spall>
