<sp2> My name is ***. My number is 0 0110. </sp2>
<sp3> Ok. My name is ***. And my number is 0116. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Now, would you please briefly introduce yourselves to each other. And remember, you should not mention the name of your university. And ***. </interlocutor>
<sp1> Mm, I am a junior, majoring in information engineering now. And [Pd-er] and I love my major. I am very interested in it. Mm in my spare time mostly I like to do some sports, like tennis and table tennis and badminton and so on. Mm, I also, mm, I also love surging the internet. I think it will, mm, let me let me knew something very recent. That's all. </sp1>
<interlocutor> ***? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Ok! My name is Henry Stanford, my English name. And my friends call my Henry. And my major is information technology and an information system. And I like listen to listening to the music or playing basketball during my free time. And that's all. </sp2>
<sp3> Ok. Mm, I major in community [Wn-l]. And I am always a ju[e]nior. Ehwell [Ww-v], I was born in Xi'an, and grown [Wow-au] there [Were-ir] . My hobbies include literature, music and English. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Ok, and now that you know each other, and we can do some group-work. And first of all, I'd like to ask each of you a question. And ***: do you think daily exercises are important to your health? </interlocutor>
<sp1> No. I think, of course mm </sp1>
<interrupted>
<interlocutor>Why? Or why not? And why? </interlocutor>
</interrupted>
<sp1> Mmfirst, mm, I think doing take exercises can can st[]imulate your spirit, mm, and it can help me, help me do other things very, mm, much better. Mm, if you if you employ a day just working or studying, it will be dull, I think. So doing some exercises can can help you to do other things better. </sp1>
<interlocutor>And ***, mm, do you think going on a diet is good for one's health? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Yes, I think so. Because for me, after entering the university, I am not keeping a good diet. I mean, everytime I went to the dining home [Mm], I just choose the things or the color of of the delicious alike. So everytime, I think it is not pretty good for me. And my mum told me oh you should you should have some vegetables everyday or sometimes like that, but but I didn't do that, I think. So keeping a diet is good for me, is not good for to to keep slim or to keep heal It's pretty good for us to keep healthy, I mean. So I think it's good for everybody to keep diet, I mean, to to ge everytime when you want to have some meals or something, just think carefully what what we gonna have. So I think especially for our university students because we don't have much time or we don't have much experience to think about that, I mean eh working or life experience. So, that's all. </sp2>
<interlocutor> And ***, do you think fast food is good for one's health? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Actually I don't think it's it's quite good for health. And we can see that fast food usually, like hamburger and and hotdog, usually contains, mm, high, mm, high calorie or mm or they are rich in fat. Mm but [Mt] I think healthy food should contain enough [Mgh] enough vegetable to in order to keep us keep us healthy. Well, I I I consider in a fast food, people can not can not get enough vegetables and they can just get fat [Wa-ai] and something they don't need so much. Mm we can see that in in the [We-e] eastern countries in western countries, many people suffer from from fatness because of they eat too much fast food. Mm, this's my opinion. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Ok. Mm, now let's move on to something more specific. And topic for our discussion today is stay healthy. And each of you will be given a card with four pictures, showing an important aspect that you should consider in order to stay healthy. I'd like you to describe the pictures briefly and comment on them. You'll have one minute to prepare and each of you will have one and an half minutes to give your presentation. And don't worry if I interrupt you when time is up. And now, here are your cards. </interlocutor>
<interlocutor> Ok now, ***, would you please begin? And you two, please put your card aside and listen to what he has to say. </interlocutor>
<sp2> Ok. I'll describe the picture from right to left [Mt] and up and? down. Ok the first pictures shows a boy, mm, eating [Pgs] too much, I mean, mm, some kind of eh fish, chicken or something. I think I I think like that boy I always do like that because I just eat something alike for or for some eh keeping some something like that. But I I don't think it's good because staying healthy, for for the reason for staying healthy, you can eat something, like what I said, you can eat something, anything you could like. You shou you have to choose, for example, vegetables or something like this. So I think, mm this is the first picture. And the second one showing a picture of eh a little girl they mm perhaps, she's mm? saying her mother: oh I have got to go to McDonald's. I think fast food in China. A lot of children thought that fast [Wa-ae] fast food is some kind of western life or western ways to to to dining, but we could experience the fast food because we could experience the west food. But I think because I have stayed abroad for some time, I think western people they do not ku have fast food frequently [W1e-e], because they thought it's unhealthy. So I think we should have the we should have knew the fast food is not healthy. And the third one showing a woman shopping in a supermarket, buy some vegetables and milk. I think vegetables contains a lot of, how can say, fibers tha that is important and crucial to our life, to our to our body. And that could be a complement to the meet, pork or beef, something like that, or eggs. And the last picture showing a a saying an an apple a day keeps the doctor away and a girl was eating an apple. I think fruit is a good thing. I was heard that I heard that a lot of models, supermodels, superstars, they just eh have fruits like apples, pears or something for their everyday dining, just [Pt-er] did it everyday diet and because [Mbe] they just want to keep slim, to keep beautiful, to keep pretty like that. They thought fruit cou could keep them that that way. Ok. </sp2>
<interlocutor> Ok. ***, it's your turn. </interlocutor>
<sp1> Mm, the four pictures showing us, mm, different habits. And in picture one we can see those who like smoking and and another girl stops him. Mm, we all [Wa-ou] knows smoking is bad for health. Mm, he can mm he can cause mm some mm heart diseases and ?? and lung cancer, especially one smoking smoking time too long. Mm, in the second picture, mm, it is a good habit for the boy. Mm, the boy sleep sleep early and get up early. The life for him is very regularly, ok. Mm, in the in the the the third picture, mm, there is a man watching TV and oh he eat too much he eat too much things [Wng-n], mm, mm, like the juices, maybe some CoCa Cola and some fruit. Mm, after after after having supper I think one should one should eat some some vege mm some fruit and but but not too much to make you make you mm make it much better. And and it it does not good to your health. So mm and it is not a good habit. Mm, in the fourth picture, we can mm we can see a boy is still playing games even at at 3 o'clock a.m. Mm he, mm maybe, mm, maybe he was fed [We-ei] up with the whole night. Mm, I don't think it's, mm compared to the second picture, his habit is not so good. Mmmaybe he will he will he will sleep all the daytime the next day, he won't do anything [Wth-s] he won't do anything [Wth-s] other. Mm it will it will affe affect his study and work in the next days. </sp1>
<interlocutor> Ok. ***, your turn, please. </interlocutor>
<sp3> Ok. From this picture, I can see there there are four eh there are four kinds of exercises. The first one is jogging. I think jogging is accepted by most people, especially in China, for it's easy to do and it's very helpful to keep healthy. Mm eh and second picture is Tai Ji Quan. As we know, mm, Tai Ji Quan is ais a traditional Chinese exercise and it's it's also accepted by many elderly people. Mm they consider when they do this this kind of exercises, they can breath fresh air and they can enjoy the the peace of heart and to keep balance of of their body and and their, mm, and their situation. The third picture is aerobics [Wi-e]. Undoubtedly, aerobics [Wi-e] is a is a kind of ve[ae]ry important exercise. Actually myself enter this this kind of class for one year. And I think during that year, mm my skill ha has improved [Pv-u] greatly. And I think my, mm, my ability mm to to do to do some to do some exercises has also improved. During that kind of exercises, we can mm we can mm make our body strong and it and it also can make you to become a new man. In the in the fourth picture, it's swimming [Ww-v]. I think swimming [Ww-v] is is is a kind [Pd-er] is a kind of exer-exercises we should always do, for during swimming, you can breath fresh air and you you can feel you you are quite different mm in a whole day. During the four pictures, we can see that staying healthy has different ways and what we need do need to do is to find the most suitable way [Ww-v] for us. And for me, I'd rather choose aerobics [Wi-e]. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Ok. Now we all have some idea of the various aspects we should consider to stay healthy. I'd like you to discuss this topic further and see if you can agree on which aspect is the most important for university students to stay healthy. During the discussion, you may argue with each other or ask each other questions to clarify your point. You'll have about four and half minutes for the discussion. And your performance will be judged according to your contribution to the discussion. And remember, during this discussion, you should try to come to an agreement on which aspect is the most important for university students to stay healthy. And you can get on. </interlocutor>
<sp2> Ok, now considering my topic, you know my topic is about diet. But I think diet is the best, because it is the most important. Because yesterday, after playing basketball game, and I, I got a seriously stomachache. And the doctor told me that the cause of my stomachache was I didn't have lunch yesterday. And I thought as university students, especially like we boys, we don't know how to care of my, mm, take care about ourselves, because, you know, our parents are not here, and we don't have girlfriends and nobody take care of us, so, everytime, when I, I mean, our life is, is not regular [We-i] [Mlar], regularly life, so I mean, I think diet is very important, because, mm, as I know lot of lot of boys they don't have breakfast. So I think diet is important, so what do you think? </sp2>
<sp3> I think exercises is, was also important. And as our university students, and we can we can do lots of exercises like jogging and acrobats, mm, also they have learn Tai Ji Quan? Mm, so I think doing exercises is a is the most efficient way to make our body strong, and to make you to make you pleasant. Mm, also doing, mm, doing exercises is also you don't have, also very helpful to make our, mm, make our, mm, situation [Wu-i] to be better. Mm, besides that I think doing cert-ertain ex-exercises like jogging and aerobics [Wi-e] is also, mm, is also very healthy, not not only to our body but also to our mental health. So what's your opinion? <sp3>
<sp1> My opinion has been, mm, mm, forming good living habits will be very important. Mm, as we know good habits will let people, mm, will make people, mm, will make people live [Wi-ai] more regularly. And I think good habit is not just, just like sleep and get up sleep early and get up early, also like, also including that we'll do some exercises normal regularly or, mm, or, mm, and don't, mm, eat too much, mm, eat too much, mm, and I think, mm, mm, and the the the living habit the living habits including, mm, not to smoking, mm, not to drinking too much it will be it will be very important to good health too. If you want to keep fit I think, mm, good li you should, mm, you should make your day more regularly. </sp2>
<sp3> But still I think only to take good habit is not, mm, good enough. In addition you should always, mm, doing some exercises, and as you just mentioned, doing some, mm, to have a, mm, healthy diet. I think all three important elements took care yourself healthy. Mm, so so we think that, mm, keep healthy has many different ways and there are all respects we have pay attention to. </sp3>
<sp2> Yes, but I think there that's three steps. I mean the first step keep a keep an healthy diet and have a good living habits and the third the third one is doing some exercises. Ok, first example, why? Because if you want do some exercises, if you are not you are hungry, or some thing, can not do it, so I think having an you have to base your exercises on a healthy diet and the living habit is a further way to keep your to keep your body healthy or physically or something you know what I am not talking about. So I think that further way so the first step is have a good diet, or have a good sleep, or something like. You have to keep your body physically good and good condition. So </sp2>
<sp3> As you know I can say keep a good diet is not enough. </sp3>
<sp2> Yeah. </sp2>
<sp3> Or I can say many people who just keep, mm, I keep a healthy diet, but but if you don't move all day, just sit there studying or even you have a good habit, but if if you don't don't do enough exercises do, the body are not strong, and so they are easy to be defected by some common diseases , like get a cold, like I am doing now. </sp3>
<sp2> Yeah, I I know it's not enough ok, ok, ok. </sp2>
<interlocutor> OK, let's end this discussion. And now I'd like to ask you just one last question on the topic of staying healthy. And ***. What do you think university or societies can do to improve the health of students? </interlocutor>
<sp1> Mm, I think, mm, like, mm, like, mm, I think like our university, mm, some, mm, the the fresher and, mm, the senior will do, mm, morning exercises running, mm, for to build their build their body. I think it's a good method and also, mm, the [We-ei] the [We-ei] university can buy as more places to play all kinds of sports to do exercises and, mm, also, mm, also the school the university can, mm, can hold much more, mm, much more, mm, game, let the, mm, to, mm let let the students, mm, let the students, mm, mm, let the students, mm, exercising exercise, also we, mm, we can, mm, also we, mm, I think the university can can do many things, but, mm, it mostly depends depends on ourselves, we should, mm, we should, mm, we should make ourselves [Mes], mm, mm, do some exercises, and, mm, and we we should form form our own, mm, normally, mm, habits in our daily life. That's all. </sp1>
<interlocutor> Ok, ***, do you think good interpersonal relationships are important to one's health? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Yes, I think so , 'cause, you know mm I mean, health is, I think, two kinds, physically and socially. So I think, in mm interpersonal communication is very crucial to a person. For example, I am a student of mana-management. And and I know it's not, interpersonal communication is not just important to our students of mana management, because if you mm if you can not, I say, to say something to your friends or to mm to tell somebody that you are happy or unhappy or something like that. You cannot be health, because healhealthy is not only physically. You could have a good, mm, I mean, physical condition, but you cannot in your heart or something, and in your mind. You have to have to be healthy in your mind. So I think interpersonal communication can make you, mm, to make you adapt to the society, to the environment, I mean, social environment. That could make you, mm, know the condition that you are in, mm I mean, or, the environment [Pt-er] what the environment you are in and what people around you are. And that could make you more clearly understanding yourself. And that's the, I mean, the key way for us to do something. </sp2>
<interlocutor> Ok. ***, do you think that too much pressure is harmful to one's health? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Of course, mm I I have to admit first that mm some certain pressure is helpful to one's health. And but alalways feel mm feel full of energy being under a certain pressure, but too much pressure will always destroy someone's self-confidence. In that way, maybe he will feel disappointed and mm this will this will prevent him from doing cer certain exercises or ha having good diet. So, in that way, mm, maybe it is harmful for him. Mm, also, mm, have have too much str pressure also also decri destroy one's mental health. Mm for we know one's mental health is limited and once the, mm, once the pressure has, mm, ha have been far behind, mm, far mm above this this limitation, maybe the the, mm, the result may not be very good, so mm my result is, mm, too much pressure </sp3>
