<sp2> Recently I you see recently I been to Shanghai once during the labor vacation. I like that city very much. I think it's quite it has a different style from the city I was born, I I grew. I was Beijing girl. And Shanghai has a different style. The people there have different point of view of life. They like leisure [Wei-ei] activities. They know how to taste the beauty of life. And they really enjoy the life. And the person in Beijing seems like just keep on walking, keep on busy working and don't know how to enjoy life. So so I really like that that feeling of enjoying the life itself. </sp2>
<interlocutor> Ok, Miss ***, listen to me carefully. </interlocutor>
<sp3> Ok. </sp3>
<interlocutor> What kind of people like touring most? </interlocutor>

<interlocutor> Now let's move on to something more specific. The topic for our discussion today is going on a tour. </interlocutor>
<interrupted>
<sp2> I like it. </sp2>
</interrupted>
<interlocutor> Each of you will be given a card with four pictures showing places of interest in China. I'd like I'd like you to state your reasons for visiting these places. You will have one minute to prepare and each of you will have one and a half minutes to give your presentation. Don't worry if I interrupted you when time is up. Now here are your cards. </interlocutor>
<interlocutor> Ok, time is up. Now, Mr. ***, would you er would you please begin? Ok, And Miss *** and Miss ***, put your cards aside and listen to him. </interlocutor>
<sp2> Ok. </sp2>
<sp1> Er, I ??? Beijing. That's the reason why I chose here to study my university career when I was in Shanghai. Because there are so many interesting places in Beijing here, such as the Great Wall, the palace building, the summer palace and the temper heaven. Er I have been here when I was seven erm grade one in my primary school. I visited er all these places. The most deepest I I the most one that give me the deepest impression was the Great Wall because it it is so magnificent that I could imagine how great effort it took the nation people to build such such er er a symbol which mean which symbolize the nation. When can even see from the satellite that the the er the man-made symbol of the on the earth. Er and at the palace museum I thought it was a reason I visited that place was I could see the real power of the emperor the power of the nation. It's very it gave me very deep impression. And the most beautiful garden I have visited was the summer palace. I spent a whole day there watching watching almost everything. I climbed the mountain, see the Kunming lake and I I think that it was really a great enjoyment for me to to to be to be there to see the the garden of the royal. </sp1>
<interlocutor> please, time is up. It's your turn, Miss ***. </interlocutor>
<sp2> Ok, I have never been Guangzhou and Daliang so I only say something about Beijing and Sahnghai. I can't can't say which city I like better. Erm because I as born in Beijing and I've ever been Shanghai and I like I love that city, I think. I think erm to say exactly Beijing is a city with two characters I think. For one side, it's a historical place. There is many many places of interests here in the city. And many traditional things very charmful to the foreigners especially. And for on the other hand, it's a very modern place. The people here are very open-minded, and thre is many new things come in and come out. And erm and it's in the fast de-development preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games. And so it's it's a city full of dynamics, I think. And Shanghai is is I mentioned that I I like I like it very much. And I think this this picture reminds me of the other site of Shanghai that it's a more sufficiently-developed city. It maybe to some degree the most developed city in China. And many many international activities are held here. So the people there are also open-minded and </sp2>
<interrupted>
<interlocutor> Time is up. </interlocutor>
</interrupted>
<sp2> Ok, ok. </sp2>
<interlocutor> Miss ***, it's your turn, please. </interlocutor>
<sp3> Ok, erm I am afraid fortune-fortunately erm I have er this pictures this sci-sci-scenic spot scenic spots are all the the places I most like to visit. But I am afraid say that some of them I have never been to and I have wondered I could have the chance to visit them. And I want to say er it's the west lake. I like it very much because it's very safe and it's very peaceful, I like peaceful things [Wth-s]. And I think when I'm in this spot and I think [Wth-s] I am I will feel myself is very insignificant and I think I am in the nature and see the lake and green trees and I think I can forget everything [Wth-s] and I think very relaxable, and I remember most that in the west lake that erm on the bank of west lake, especially er in the festival erm some lovers often went to the west lake bank and they could there er er have made paper boats into into the west lake and wish that their love their love will last [Wa-e] forever. And I have wonder I could went to I could go to the west lake and with my lovers and hope our love will will last forever. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Now, it's time. Er right now we all have some idea some idea of the reasons before we visit these places, right? I'd like you to discuss this topic further and see if you can agree on what places college students would like tour most. Ok, during the discussion, you may argue with each other or ask each other questions to clarify your point. You'll have about four and a half minutes for this discussion. Your performance will be judged according to your contribution to the discussion. Remember during the discussion you should try to come to an agreement on what places college students would like tour most, ok? It's your turn please. </interlocutor>
<sp2> Ok, so I first? I I get the beginning? I think personally I like Beijing best because that this is the city where I know the most. </sp2>
<sp1> Well, I agree. </sp1>
<sp3> I would say I agree also. </sp3>
<sp2> Yeah, erm I think this city can can teach you can give what. It's not a city where you just stay and and live in. it's a city that can can express something. Erm I think the most charming the charm of the city is the style. And Beijing has really has a style. Erm that's why I like it the most. </sp2>
<sp1> I think Beijing is a great combination of modern and classic. </sp1>
<sp2> Yeah. </sp2>
<sp1> Because it has it it not only has many interesting places that of historical er historic interests, but also many modern modern things are happening here everyday. And as to Shanghai, my hometown, I live in that city, I I have been that city for twenty years, I know that city very well. It is a modern city, but it really has any things of historical interests, such as Yu garden and Chenghuang temple, anything more, ok, I know, I think, everyday everyday you see the cars are on the streets very fast they are all modern cars, what else can see? No. so I think I want something of historical interests, so I chose Beijing to study my university career. </sp1>
<sp3> In my opinion, I think Beijing is very er political it's a very political sites and I think I didn't like politics very well. Although my major is, but I think Shanghai is very beautiful, especially at night, and all the lights went on. And I think it's very developed country, developed city. </sp3>
<interrupted>
<sp2> Not country. </sp2>
</interrupted>
<sp3> Developed city. And I think on the street, we are walking on the street and see the lights around there, I think it's very romantic. </sp3>
<sp2> Yeah I agree with you on that point that Beijing is a political place. </sp2>
<sp3> Yes. </sp3>
<sp2> Yeah, it's really political and and the other disadvantage of this city is that it's somewhat a mixture of modern and tradition. But I I still like this city because I think it has the potential to to be more developed, to be more reasonable in in culture. </sp2>
<sp1> I think that one thing I don't like Beijing not much is it's too political. And I think just like in Shanghai it's too economic. And and everyday we'll going to a taxi in Shanghai, the driver will talk you about the the stock markets, the index of the Shanghai index. And In Beijing when when you get into a taxi, the driver talk talk the the what accidents the the leaders have make take recently. You know I don't like two extremes. And I think the mixture will be more maybe a little better. </sp1>
<sp3> Yeah, I have the same of experience with the driver Beijing's driver. And erm last time er I went to a place but I don't know very well of that place. And when I went to the car, and the driver tell me how I could get there to the cutshort and the shortest way to go there and you can you could escape the traffic jam. </sp3>
<sp2> Yeah. </sp2>
<sp3> And it is also very save [Wv-f] time and I I I think the Beijing's driver is very kind and very </sp3>
<interrupted>
<sp2> Energenous. </sp2>
</interrupted>
<sp3> Yes, energetic. </sp3>
<sp2> Yeah, yeah. </sp2>
<sp3> I talk to you. </sp3>
<interlocutor> All right, this is the end of the discussion. Now, I'd like to ask you just one last question on the topic of going on tour, ok? </interlocutor>
<spall> Ok. </spall>
<interlocutor> Mr. ***, please listen to me carefully, why do people like to tour distant places rather than local places? </interlocutor>
<sp1> Erm, because they want new experiences, they want new experience to see different kind to see the people different from them in not in custom also in maybe languages and and living style. </sp1>
<interlocutor> Ok, Miss ***, listen to me carefully. Erm have you ever thought of traveling abroad? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Yeah, sure. </sp2>
<interlocutor> Where do you like to go first? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Maybe America. </sp2>
<interlocutor> Why? Give some reasons. </interlocutor>
<sp2> Reason? I think America is the most developed place in the world. It's the leader of the world. And the things are the freshest, the newest, the latest there. And the people are open-minded. I think that's the most charmful thing that attracts me. </sp2>
<interlocutor> Ok, Miss ***, listen to me carefully. </interlocutor>
<sp3> Erm? </sp3>
<interlocutor> Have you ever dream of touring all of the famous places in China? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Yeah. Of course. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Why do you think what do you think you should do to make it possible? </interlocutor>
<sp3> I think first of one thing [Wth-s] I have to learn very well study and try my best to learn the things [Wth-s] well and and I think the most important thing [Wth-s] is I could earn enough money to make the chance erm able to make to make myself to make the future, so I think I had to study very well and to get a good job and earn the money. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Ok, I think this is the end of the test. Thank you everybody. </interlocutor>
<spall> Thank you. </spall>
