<sp1> Rea-read late at night? Er I think both morning and night are the time for read. But the night is better. Er I think in in the night, you can concentrate on yourself more, much more. And [Pd-er] er in the night sorry. In the morning, I didn't have er I didn't have clean clean concentration. And I often get up late. So, I think in and in the night, I have had good spirit. </sp1>
<interlocutor> Thank you. Er ***. </interlocutor>
<sp2> Mm.<sp2>
<interlocutor> What do you think of the habit of doing morning exercises? </interlocutor>
<sp2> Well, I think that depends on different persons and different body conditions. Because [Pu-r] people are unique, you know. And for me, I think doing exercise in the morning is not a good choice. Because [Pu-r] I think er er if you do too much exercises in the morning, you will feel tired. And and to me, that's sure. And I always feel very tired and I yawned [Waw-au] when I am having class classes. So, I think it's not very nice. And I usually doing exercises in the afternoon. Because [Pu-r] I think that at that time, the air is fresh. Because [Pu-r] in the science article, they said that the air is fresh during that time. So, I usually doing exercises at that time. </sp2>
<inrerlocutor> OK. </interlocutor>
<sp2> That's my choice. </sp2>
<interlocutor> ***, er do your roommates have different living habits? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Yes, of course. </sp3>
<interlocutor> Mm do you think it's a problem? </interlocutor>
<sp3> Erm yes, maybe sometimes. Because [Wau-er] some of my roommates like to er listen to the music late in the evening. Er and I think maybe it influence [S3]er our our usual study. And maybe some of them get up very early. And bo- most of us get up er get up at about seven o'clock or later than that. So, maybe at some, I mean, maybe it can it has some er effects on on us. And </sp3>
<interlocutor> OK. Thank you. Er now let's move on to something more specific. The topic for our discussion today is smoking. Each of you will be given a card with two pictures showing smoking related problems. I'd like you to talk about er the people's views on smoking according to your card. You have one minute to prepare and each of you will have one and a half minutes to give your presentation. Er don't worry. If time is up, if I interrupt you when the time is up. Now, here are your cards. </interlocutor>
<interlocutor> Ok. Time is up. Now, ***, would you please begin? *** and ***, please put your cards aside and listen to what she has to say. </interlocutor>
<sp1> OK. My question is is smoking good for public relations? For me, I think smoking is not very nice for public relations. Er the picture shows two places. One place is in a office and another place is during a meeting. First, I want to say, during in the office, in our most offices, er airtight, so the air can not flew flew freely. So, if someone smokes, er the air will be getting very get very very bad. And you know nicotine is very bad for people's healthy. And so, es- and especially for people who is not get used to that nicotine will feel tirely can't concentrate in the work. So, I think it's a very terrible thing to smoke in public in a public office. And during the meeting, and I want to say, meeting is is a very important thing. So, what should we do? I think we should focus on the on the topic we are going to talk about. And instead of just some smoking or something else. Maybe smoking, someone smoke may feel may feel a little focused a little concentrated. But I think for most others, smoking is not a good thing. And we know, in western countries, the cigarettes are forbi- are are not forbidden. But they have this kinds of tend to forbidden. So, I think in china, it's also the same one. I think smoking is not very good for public relations. </sp1>
<interlocutor> OK. Thank you. ***, it's your turn. </interlocutor>
<sp3> My picture's question is smoking is is really a bad thing. I want to say yes. First picture, on the first picture, the man has slept. And the cigarettes are still on the on fire. And we can see that his bed has got fire. And man didn't noticed it. And on the second picture, the man are working and smoking. And and he is so concentrated on his work and didn't notice that the bin of cigarettes has has been full [Pl-er]. And I think smoking, when something when somebody didn't notice. I mean not very not very careful er it's very dangerous. Because very easy to get fire. And er get fire especially when they they didn't they don't er don't notice er the the danger. And er on the in in this two pictures, there are there are something easy to get fire, and I think it's more dangerous. </sp3>
<interlocutor> OK. Thank you. Er ***. </interlocutor>
<sp1> My topi- my question is is smoking dangerous to one's health? I think of course it is dangerous. There are two picture, the first picture is in the hospital. The man is in the bed bed. And it is obvious that he is he is patien-patient. But he is still he is still smoking. And the other man and and his wife. She was taking a lung cancer report. Er as I as far as I know, there is more people who there is more people been lung cancer caused by smoking than cause by other diseases. So, and [Pd-er] and [Pd-er] there is more desperate caused by smoke. Because because it got it caused lung cancer. On the other picture, it is a old man who who was who was smoking in the in the ??? it seems that he is very comfortable. But I think he is on the other hand, he is he is in in a dead danger. As because smoking is the main cause of lung cancer. And as he is as he is a old man, I think he he should keep his keep his health in a better condition but not smoke. And then, only as long as he does so, he can live a healthy life. </sp1>
<interlocutor> OK. Thank you. Now that we all have some idea of the problem related to smoking. I'd like you to discuss this topic further. And see if you can agree on whether smoking should be prohibited. Er during the discussion, you may argue with each other or ask each other questions to clarify your point. You'll have er four and a half minutes for the discussion. Your performance will be judged according your contribution to the discussion. Remember during the discussion, you should try to come to an agreement on whether smoking should be prohibited. </interlocutor>
<sp2> OK. In my opinion, I think smoking should be prohibited. Because [Pu-r] as we know, we got three three pictures and say that first it's bad it's a bad thing because it's dangerous. And the second one is not good for public relations and the third one is it's not good for one's health. So I think er smoking should be prohibited. </sp2>
<sp3> Yes. I agree with you. </sp3>
<sp1> I agree with you too. But I think it is not easy thing. You see many people smoke in public and in pri-private place is very difficult. </sp1>
<sp3> And I think we should maybe set up some places especially for the smokers and in the public area people are prohibited to smoke I think. </sp3>
<sp2> Yes I but I think our topics is is that whether we should prohibit it, right? So, you know, many countries [Wn-ng] believe that smoking and or the sell of smoking of smo- of cigarettes can bring a lot of taxes. So, many many country [Wn-ng] think that why not, because it will earn us a lot of money. Why should we prohibited it prohibit it? So I think that's a problem we have to face. And I think that's the problem most government are thinking about. </sp2>
<sp3> Yes. I think maybe relates to economics. And maybe to some persons dedicates. So, maybe it's hard. But I think should be pro-prohibited. </sp3>
<sp1> I I think we can do it, we can make it. Although it will takes a long time. </sp1>
<sp2> Yes, I am sure of that. And er I think as we know, the average age of a of the people in some developing country [Wn-ng] is not as high as the developed countries [Wn-ng]. And they said that in China people who smoke is ??? state a thing like that. People who smoke in China is much is much more than people who smoke in the United States. And the average age is not as high as them. So I think that's why er er I think that's why smoking should be prohibited. Should be pro-should be forbidden. Because that really affects somebody's age and somebody's health, right? I think so. </sp2>
<sp3> Yes. But I think most smokers er have been, how to say, has smoking has been smoking for a long time. So, do you think maybe public should protect their, how to say, benefits er or their rights. Because [Wau-er] I think some of them think that giving giving up smoking is bad for their health. So, they have rights to er to smoke maybe sometimes or maybe in their private er places. </sp3>
<sp2> Yes, you are right. Now one of my teacher who has some habit who has who has had smoken smoken for about forty years. He just said that if you want me to stop smoking, then you should kill me, I think. </sp2>
<spall> He he. </spall>
<sp1> I agree with your opinion. Er er I agree with her idea. And not also teacher, but also my er my classmates, they they also smoke. Er er I think it is difficult to it is difficult to prohibit it to prohibit smoking. But I think we can do for ourselves. We can ask them not to smoke. </sp1>
<sp2> Quite right, I think. </sp2>
<interlocutor> OK. That's the end of the dis-discussion. Now, ***, I would ask you another question on this topic. Well what would you do if your friend is a heavy smoker. </interlocutor>
<sp3> I think I will I will try my best to ask him or her to give up smoking. Because [Wau-er] I think first it's bad for his or her health. And secondly, I think er it also affects maybe someone around him or her. So, I think difficult it may be. But I I will try some er methods. I mean maybe you see some medicine. Or do or how to say, to er how to say, try my best to disconcentrate his or her er maybe mind on on smoking. Maybe we can show some other activities. And I think the the situation will gradually er change. </sp3>
<interlocutor> OK. Thank you. Erm ***. Erm many measures have been taken to limit smoking. Are they effective? </interlocutor>
<sp1> I don't think so. </sp1>
<interlocutor> Why? </interlocutor>
<sp1> Because there are too heavy smokers in the world. They could be without smoking. Er I think it is it will it will take a long time to stop the smoking. Er er But I but I also think that if they want to smoke, erm they can er they can go to a place especial for them to smoke. And [Pd-er] er and [Pd-er] er you are to give the smokers can increase the cigarettes at every day. I think we can do this as long as we have patient. </sp1>
<interlocutor> OK. Thank you. That's the end of the test. Thank you everybody. Now please give me your cards and admission tickets. </interlocutor>
