Being educated means a man should be literate, civilized, decent in manners, rich in knowledge and good at dealing with other people and the good things. So the purpose of education is to cultivate a perfect and civilized person, and this task cannot be finished in a short term but in one's whole life. Therefore, education is a lifelong process.
To be educated, you have to go to schools, including the ones we have to go in our early age. But, in fact the biggest school is the society. Living in this society, we have a lot to learn from it, in order to live better and know more about ourselves. Also, the society is changing all the time. So there are enormous things for us to learn and it has no ending. Therefore, we must spend the entire life to learn and to receive educations.
Moreover, being a perfect person is not so easy to achieve. There is a big price to pay for it. That is to make efforts to aim at it until the last day of your life. We have a lot of such examples to learn from as the great scientist Newton who missed the meal and cared little about his life, Marx who died in the chair when he was working and so on.
The reason why human beings are separated from the animals is that man can make stools. And this is human civilization. In order to be more civilized we must gain more education, For there is no such a certain point which is the perfect civilization, so our education has no ending.
In tending to be a perfect person, we have to learn from schools, from society; in order to be more humane and civilized apart from animals, we have to get more education. Although we may not reach the point that is perfect and most civilized, we have our life strive for it and that is the great spirit of our Chinese. So education is a lifelong process.
