Some people see the education simply as going to schools or colleges when people are young, or just a means to secure good jobs. However, in my opinion education should be termed as a lifelong process and plays a very important role for a modern adult person.
When people are young, education is very important for them, because people don't have much knowledge about the world. In order grow up and adapt themselves in the world, people have to go to school to learn various of fundemental knowledge and basic skills, such as languages, mathematics, science and liberal art subjects. Only when people have a good command of these basic elements can they secure their surving in the society. As time passes by, people have to learn some vocational skill to work for the society. For this purpose, people attend colleges so as to do professional jobs after their graduation or simply train themselves in some vocation schools. In this way, schooling was a key factor to ensure people's future jobs.
Does it mean that education ends when people finish their schooling? Definitely not. Education is a lifelong process which should accompany people through all their lives.
In the modern world, with the introduction of science and technology, the world is changing at unprecedented speed. Today's latest foundings might be tomorrow's out-of-dated. In order to adapt to the changing environment, people have to update their knowledge with the pace of the society. In the sense, people have to educate themselves all their life to the lastest findings and knowledge, otherwise they will be eliminated out of the society.
To sum up education is not just a part of people's life but plays a key role in people's lifelong time. And let us hold a firm belief Education is a lifelong process and "it's never too old to learn."
