Maybe since I was born I have been receiving education. Mother taught me to speak, to walk, then to learn characters when I was a child. But that can't be called the true education. The systematic education should be what I received after going to school.
As a child in kindergarten, at that time. I just was taught to sing and dance, to draw some pictures, and also taught to communicate with others and how to get along well with others. Even in primary school I think I just received some knowledge passively.
When I stepped into middle school I began to know what was study, what was the aim of my study and how to study well. I knew education not only give me knowledge but also taught me to master the methods to study.
I thought that must be the true education.
I realized I was wrong when I entered the college. Besides giving us knowledge, teaching us to keep some step with society is another part of education. I'm receiving professional education now. As an English major, I should master English well, also I should learn to work well and get along well with other maybe including learning to adpat myself to others.
Graduating from University is not the end of education , because the society has been developing as such a high speed. If we stop studying we'll be put into the corner of the times. An old lady in Beijing who is over eighty years old now continue to study English. She said: "I'm not too old to study. I should try my best study English well and to meet the Olypic in 2008."
Oh, yes! Education is a lifelong process, we should never stop receiving education. There is a proverb in China, which goes, "Growing older, studying old."
