"Lifelong Education" tends to Be Accepted by everyone in China
Since 1980s, there is a new opinion about education spreading in the western countries. The opinion is that education is a lifelong process, it is unlimited by time or place. Now, it is accepted by everyone in China gradually.
In old China, the education which was received by a common people was from the school, and it only lasted for a few years. When one man finished his study in school, he would never come back to school as a student again. They thought that they had learned all knowledge they needed.
When "lifelong education" spread from western countries to China, young people accepted it easily, but to the old, they couldn't understand, why should they accept such a strange idea?
As a matter of fact, lifelong education not only means it is never too old to learn, but also means we must learn all kinds of knowledge. Knowledge is great and can't all be mastered in a limited time. As a maths doctor, you may not know the knowledge of law; As an old writer, you may not know how to use a computer. If we want to keep up with the date, we must learn in every minute till we die.
Nowadays in China, with the development of the economics and the opinion, most of Chinese man agree with the idea, even the old man.
Reported by Xinghua newspaper, a 63-year-age man whose name is ChenXing, in Lishun, Liaoning Province, decided to learn law four years ago. His action surprised everyone who knew him. But, to everyone's surprise, he became a lawyer now. He served the people in his town, helped them to know how to protect their rights in law.
Actually, there are many schools open to the whole society. No matter who you are, no matter how old you are, no matter how limit your education is, if you will, you can go to school and continue your education. The chance of receiving education is fair.
The changes has proven that "lifelong education" has gradually affected our life in China now. Everyone knows that education is a process which lasts from your birth to your death.
