"Study is a lifelong activity", said my grandmother, who was 70 years old at that time. To my surprise, in that year, she got her degree in Anhui University. My grandmother was deprived of the education right because of her poor family when she was in the high school. She couldn't stay in school to continue her studies. She must go to a factory to earn some money to surpport her large family. "This situation made me cry my heart out" she said. However, nobody thought that she could get a degree after more than 50 years. When I asked her the reason. A small grin came over her face, and I heard "Study is a lifelong activity".
I was lost in thoughts. Nowadays, most people simply see education as going to school or colleages. A lot of students try their best to go to colleges only for they can get a diploma, with which they can hunt a good job easily. This misconception still exist. Education is a lifelong process, it doesn't mean schools, tests, high marks and diplomas. "Knowledge is boundless". Everybody should study hard to perfect themselves, to develop a good personality and to reap a destiny.
With the opening of our door, more and more Chinese come to realize the importance of education. Compared with some developed countries, such as USA and Japan, we can easily see education is a lifelong process in these countries. They pay more attentions to education. Whether a child, an adult or a old man, they read newspapers, magazines, go to night school and use computer to soak up the latest information. In a word, they try all the ways they can to learn knowledge. Education is in their daily life. I think maybe that is why they are so powerful and advanced. "A man is never too old to learn". Chinese adults must remember this proverb and put it into practise. We must give up the wrong ideas and learn until we die. Only in this way can our country will become a really powerful nation.
As the saying goes "life is short but art is long", so we must try our best to study. Especially, the adults should build their youth for the further. If an old lady like my grandmother can do it, why can't we do it? Therefore, let's go forth and remember "education is a lifetime process."
