"Live to the old age, and learn to then." This is a Chinese proverb. It means that learning is a life long process, and the education should be endless. However, in modern society, education is often misunderstood as a short term means or tool to reach some realistic goals, which leads to a totally wrong direction.
First, education plays double roles in the society as teaching knowledge and cultivation. One should know that the education he has accepted not only gives the specific information to him but also leads him to correct roads of life. The basic skills he has learned in natural and social science are also fitable to solve the problems he meets in his life. Therefore, one should always keep learning to keep his ability of living in the society.
Secondly, education offers people a good chance to exercise and enrich themselves. As we know, human's brain is like a machine which needs working constantly to keep its running. People will easily indulge themselves in laziness when they are getting old, which causes their abandonment of the time. They have no choice but to learn all through their lives to keep their brain sharp.
Finally, the world is changing every day, and the knowledge is renewed continuously. Learning is the only way to keep up with the step of the world. Nowadays, for example, even an expert of computer should attain some kinds of computer training every year to master the new technology. None of us could satisfied with our present knowledge for it may be out of date tomorrow. The modern society, as a train running in high speed, requires us to follow it by education.
Education, as a lifelong process, will benefit everyone all through his life. As long as people realize its meaning and effect to themselves, they will be pleasant to accept such a profitable training.
