Some people view education simply as going to schools or colleges or as a means to secure good jobs. However, I don't agree with them. In my opinion, education is a lifelong process. Once stop accepting education, one will sooner or later lag behind the advancement of the society.
Firstly, there's no end of learning, because there is so many things worth learning in the world. What we have learned in schools is only some basic knowledge. What we have learned in colleges is only some narrow aspect of the knowledge of the world on a very limited level. One of my teachers has said, "learning can never be enough." She herself never stops receiving education, and she even got a doctor's degree in her fifties.
Secondly, learning and education require developing with the development of knowledge itself. With the development of mankind world, people are discovering more and more. Knowledge is also developing. If one stops receiving education, he will be inevitably to lag behind the society. Most scientists keep learning even when they are very old, because they need to keep up with the development of their academic fields. Many professionals come back to colleges to continue their study, because they find their jobs require more up-to-date knowledge. That's why there are so many working people applicating for post-graduate programs.
On the whole, learning is a lifelong process. One should not stop learning even after having finished the university study. One should regard education as a lifelong process and always be ready to absorb new knowledge in order to enrich himself and keep himself up with the developing world.
