Some people are inclined to regard education as going to schools or colleges, or as a means to secure good jobs. However, like most people, I view education as a lifelong process. My reasons go as follows.
First of all, if one could view education as a lifelong process, one would spare no efforts to obtain the latest knowledge in order to keep pace with this world. The present world is full of innovations. Almost every day branches of knowledge grow and play an increasingly important role in the society. My uncle, a physics professor, once regarded education as a means to secure good jobs. However, soon he found that he had to learn the knowledge of computers. His experience clearly shows that a modern person should not simply rely on what he or she has learned. Only when they view education as a lifelong process and keep on learning, could they gain the latest knowledge and adapt themselves to this world.
Second, modern people need a lifelong education to keep their moral health. As modern people, they are confronted with a variety of temptations every day. If they just view education as going to academic institutions or good companies, they would forget to improve their morality against any degeneration. There is no denying that many corrupt officials impute their degeneration to the lack of moral education. Their lessons reveals the great importance of lifelong education.
Last but not least, lifelong education could help modern people rest after routine work. In the present materialized world, most people are tired of their boring daily work. However, if they stop to learn something, they could change their ways of life. My uncle, who once grew tired of his research work, now finds a lot of funs in learning computers. In his words, "One hour of learning computers provides me incredible peps in daily work. "
To sum up, lifelong education could help modern people gain the latest knowledge, keep their moral health and change their boring routine life. For these reasons, I believe modern people should view education as a lifelong process.
