There is a famous saying in both Chinese and English, expressing the same idea "it's never too late to learn". As a lifelong process, education is of prime significarice to a modern people because only with continuous education can people keep pace with this fast developing society and succeed in the fierce competition nowadays.
First, in this "Information Age", during which new knowledge and skills are booming out every day, education is the only access to preventing people from lagging behind this highly civilized world. For example, the computer which used to be an elien tern just couples of years ago has come to the wide application in every field of our time, which requires people to master its operating to a certain extent. Even my neighbour, Grandma Wang is learning windows these days "to keep up with times," as she said.
Second, education avails people the greater opportunity to suceed in the fierce competition of this modern society. Graduates used to be highly educated people, but now even postgraduates are common. With so many talented and hard-working people around, one must grasp more knowledge and more skills than others to have a stand successfully. What serves as a proof is the fact that many graduates, after several years of working, have returned to campus again for the pursuit of a higher degree. As a matter of fact, education is even a way essential to survive. Many laid-offs get reimployed after self-education or social trainings of some skills.
In short, education in the predominant method for self-improvement. It may not necessarily be a degree or certificate, but the education, in its essence will benefit people all the time because it enables people to keep up with the times and provides them a more promising future.
