If you hold the idea that education is just what we get from elementary school to university, I'm afraid, I cannot agree with you.
I admit that school study is a most important part of the education. During that period of time, we touch many aspects of knowledge, first generally and simply and then in an advanced level. We receive knowledge from the teachers and later we are taught the way of self-learning.
But that's far from enough. Refer to this, I don't merely mean the knowledge we have acquired. However, of course, the knowledge is not enough.
I've read a research paper in which it listed several numbers related to the information nowadays. I remember one number clearly. It said that because of the bombing information, the knowledge we've acquired before we graduated from university will take up only 5% of all the information ten years later. It is shocking, isn't it? It means that if you don't go on studying after you graduate from university from time to time to fill up the vanity of your mind, you'll be quickly thrown backward by the modern society which is progressing every second.
Another reason is that man's brain is not as advanced as a computer. If a computer is designed, whenever you start it, it'll be able to count as many times as it was able to from the first time. Admit or not, man's brain is inferior to it to some degree. Every minute it is forgetting things that once it remembered. And if it is not used for some time, it goes blunt. It will be more difficult for you to restart it.
For the two reasons above, I'd like to summarize my opinion. The knowledge that have be learned at school is only a small part of all the knowledge of the same time. And the new information are adding to the previous ones at a marvolous speed. In order to catch up with the pace of the time, we have to study on as we live on. And studying continuous is the best way because in that case, your brain can always work in its best situation. So, better study continuously through all your life.
