During the Spring Festival, I asked three person the same question: "What do you think education is?" The answer my neighbour's son gave was "Education involves Chinese, mathematics, English, drawing and so on." My cousin viewed education as the integral means to pass the entrance examination of university. Finally, my father gave us a precise definition: "Education is what we use to learn new things, to enlarge our view and to test our abilities. It is a long-lasting process."
Education is a process. Take English for instance, we start from the most fundamental element A. B. C. These letters, then, form various words with different meanings. Later we come across grammar including all the tenses and collocations. With these basic knowledge, we use words to speak and write. After these, we should learn the background knowledge and read as many books as possible. While the reqirement improves, the purpose of education deepens. But never could we say that "I have finished my education." Because education has no end. When you get the B A degree, you still can study further for master's and doctor's degree. Society is developing at a high speed, so is technology and knowledge. There will always exist new things that you never touch upon or come accross.
Education is a life-long process, from the time you were born, until your life cone to an end. You are learning all the time; learning all kinds of things, simple and complicated; learning from various objects, a person, a book or an event.
Education is like a long journey which you makes as your life goes. You may have gone a long way, but look forward, you are still far from the denation. There is an old saying that "learning is like a sea, hard-working is your ferry."
