Nowadays, we are seeing more and more misleading advertisements. We are all familiar with the amazing products in magazines and on television that appear too good to be true, usually because they are.
These products cause serious problems for businesses and consumers. A customer, who has been tricked into purchasing a product that appears better than it is, feels cheated by the company and embarrassed that he did not realize he was being tricked. He becomes a more critical buyer and this situation can be harmful for all businesses. A more critical buyer buys less for fear of being misled again.
I am a critical buyer because in the past, I have been the consumer tricked into buying a product that is not what it was advertised to be. I have been reluctant to purchase many products because I feel that their advertisements could be misleading. Misleading advertisements are detrimental to the whole economy by dissuading buyers from purchases.
