The phrase "haste makes waste" illustrates that many times trying to accomplish a task quickly leads to errors and a poor job. By rushing through something one is unable to focus his attention on small details. These details generally are what set one product apart from the rest. By simply aiming to finish the task as fast as possible, one produces a sub-par product and has not contributed anything worthwhile.
Though most people realize that rushing through a task will result in poor work, people continue to do it in all aspects of their life. It generally starts in school when one has a paper to write. Instead of devoting the proper time to writing it, the student puts together something that takes less time but will still "pass" as a paper. This type of mindset generally carries over into one's career. Doing certain things quickly and at a lesser quality is not necessarily bad; not all things require perfection. It is when all projects, even the important ones, are completed in this manner that problems arise. By doing this one is not only selling himself short, he is also cheating those that are related to the task.
