The arrival of the twenty-first century brings about greater advances in science and technology. These advances will affect many aspects of one's life, some in beneficial ways and others in questionable ones. Though not all of these advances will be welcome ones, indeed they will appear, and society must adapt.
There are some advantages of these new developments. No doubt some of the new products will simplify lives and provide more convenience. Developments in medicine may help save lives and improve the quality of life for the ill. However, inevitably some of these advances will be questionable. For example, now there are great debates over stem-cell research and cloning procedures. Though new developments are beneficial in many ways, the more society advances the more likely the possibility of breaching ethical codes.
I feel the knowledge acquired that is necessary for many of these new developments, even the questionable ones, is extraordinary. We now have the potential to do many amazing things and improve life for people in many ways. However, it is when this knowledge is abused that problems arise. With close monitoring of the science and technology industry, problems can hopefully be kept to a minimum.
