The importance of good health is simply for the achievement of a long and comfortable life. Giving attention to a person's health at a young age has been shown to extend a person's life significantly and to aid a person in avoiding many painful and fatal diseases.
For example, exercising consistently and avoiding foods high in cholesterol can serious reduce a person's risk of heart-related diseases. These diseases, along with lung and mouth cancer and emphysema, can be prevented by not using tobacco. Avoiding overexposure to the sun can prevent skin cancer. Eating certain foods, such as broccoli and tomatoes, have also been shown to prevent and treat all forms of cancer.
Aware of these prevention measures, I try to exercise at least 3-4 times a week. I also eat healthfully and avoid too much exposure to the sun. However, I have one major flaw: I am a cigarette- smoker. I am trying to quit smoking and do not plan to be a smoker my whole life. I am aware of the horrible effects it has on a person's body.
