Cigarette smoking is not indigenous to one culture or a particular age. This habit is seen throughout the world in a wide variety of ages. Though in some cultures it is socially acceptable and in others it is thought repulsive, cigarette smoking is a worldwide phenomenon.
Though once deemed "cool" and "chic" in the United States, cigarette smoking now evokes an unhealthy image. Regardless, every day many more people start smoking, and long-term smokers still continue this deadly habit. It is known to cause myriad health problems, from heart disease to lung cancer. With all of the evidence proving that cigarette smoking contributes to health problems, it is startling how many people still continue to smoke.
Many people every year do indeed try to quit smoking. From patches to pills, there are a number of methods available. No matter which method one chooses, support and determination are the key ingredients to kicking this habit for good.
