Multimedia teaching in English has many good and bad aspects. Using multimedia tools is an excellent way to keep students interested and expose them to new ways of teaching. Using equipment such as computers allows the students to have some control over their learning. This tends to motivate the student and can often be more effective than simply listening to a teacher. Not only are the students learning English through interactive games and recordings, they are also becoming familiar with technology.
Some of the bad aspects of multimedia teaching are that the teachers have less control. It is more difficult to monitor the students' progress and his dedication. Highly motivated students do well using multimedia tools but less motivated ones may see it as an opportunity to slack off. Also the teachers do not have as much interaction with the students using this method, which is necessary when studying a foreign language.
Multimedia teaching is a great way to incorporate new teaching methods into an already existing program. It should be used as a supplement to keep interest high but should not completely replace teacher/student interaction.
