Some people say that "lucky numbers" can bring them good luck. Others disagree that "Lucky numbers" have anything to do with good luck. In the United States, the lottery has become a very important fund raiser for many individual state budgets. The amount that can be won by individuals playing the many different state lottery games varies between a few US dollars and millions of dollars. They are tempted to win big money, by such state slogans as one that used to be popular in New York State, "Hey! You Never Know!" Many people spend a lot of money buying lottery tickets several times week. Gambling in Atlantic City, Les Vegas, Reno, on the Native American Reservations, or in many casinos involves millions of people annually. Game shows, such as "Wheel of Fortune," "Do You Want to Be a Millionaire?" or "The Weakest Link" may involve luck or skill.
Many Americans believe that some numbers for the lotteries, gambling casinos, or game shows, such as seven and eleven are very often quite lucky. In contrast, they may think that thirteen is a very unlucky number, such as when a Friday falls on the thirteenth of the month, and often hotels have no thirteenth floor; Others believe that numbers that make up their birthday, month of birth, and year of birth are their own lucky numbers.
For me, personally, luck by numbers is generally nonsense, and in many cases, I think that having one lottery ticket might be all that one should invest especially if the odds of winning the lottery are one in several million. Then most numbers are unlucky.
