Tuition for college can be obtained in many different ways. If one excels in a particular area or meet certain requirements, then many scholarships may be available. Other students work and save money before hand and then continue to work and support themselves while in school. Parents may sometimes finance the entire college education with the belief that their child will be able to devote more to his studies. Many students use a combination of the two; they may work to pay for part of their education while parents and/or scholarships finance the rest.
Due to the fact that I had good grades in high school and maintained them through college, my tuition was paid for by the state of Georgia. My parents gave me money for housing, books, and miscellaneous expenses. Not having to work allowed me to focus on my schoolwork in order to maintain my scholarship.
There are definite advantages and disadvantages of each method. Working while in school, though more difficult to study, is beneficial in building responsibility and gaining experience. Each student must choose the course that best suits him and make the most of the advantages it offers.
