<Source></Source>
<Nationality>USA</Nationality>Water is one of life's most vital resources. It is necessary for eating, drinking, bathing, and a wide range of industrial and commercial uses. It is also a very limited resource, with pollution and over-consumption being major causes for concern. However, with appropriate action, the water crisis can be surmounted.
Pollution poses the largest threat to adequate water supply. Government agencies must take measures to punish polluters with severe fines. As profit is the most important aspect of business, companies will stop polluting the instant it becomes cost-inefficient to pollute. Likewise, tax incentives should be provided to those who improve their water policy.
On a smaller scale, individuals and families often consume unnecessarily large quantities of water. This is particularly true in cities and the developed world. More efficient appliances (appliances which use less water) can help alleviate the problem. Tax incentives can also be applied to those whose water consumption is low.
With the right combination of incentive and attitude, water supply should not pose a problem to society. It all depends on people's willingness to instate the necessary measures and be flexible about change in their lives.
