It is society's job to reach out and care for those people who need extra attention, be it the young, elderly, or disabled. The elderly should be treated with respect and care. These people have paid their debt to society and now they should be rewarded. The younger people owe much of their freedom and advancement to those who came before them. In turn, they should show their appreciation and perhaps look to them for advice.
Society should not just care for the elderly but also for the young. Today's children will soon be the pillars of society. However, they will not live up to their potential if they are not nurtured. While this job primarily lies with the parents, society plays an important role as well.
By respecting the elderly and nurturing the young, we create a society that is caring and giving. This creates a more harmonious society, allowing everyone to benefit and prosper.
