When I was a child, you told me I could do whatever I wanted, provided I worked hard. I remember you said, We dont care whether you collect garbage or become a doctor, as long as you do what you want and try your best. As for now, I have decided to study abroad.
I am going to China. I will teach English there, because there is a great need for English teachers in China. I can use the experience to learn Chinese language and culture. I will also visit many places, make many friends, and witness a different way of life.
As you know, I do not have definite future plans. Whatever I decide to do, my China experience can help me. Maybe I will be a teacher, and this will give me experience. Perhaps I will find a job that requires ability to speak second language. Even if I gain no definite skills, the friendships and connections I build will help me.
I know you are concerned about me, but you should not worry. China is a very safe country, and I already have friends there who will help me. Regardless, you know I am well prepared and can take care of myself.
Thank you for all the support you have given me all my life. Your unconditional love has given me hope and confidence. I will do my best as a teacher, and remain safe. I will miss you very much. Always be careful, as I will worry about you, too.
I will see you again before long.
